Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

AJ Construction Inc ("AJ Construction", "we", "us") is a licensed general building contractor based in Placerville, California, operating under California State Licence Board licence #1129358. This policy explains what happens to the information you give us through this website.

This policy covers this website only. It does not cover information you give us in person, over the phone, or under a signed construction contract, which is handled according to that contract and applicable California law.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need in order to quote and schedule construction work.

Information you give us

When you complete the estimate request form or the project assistant on this site, we collect: your name, phone number, email address (if you provide one), the city where the property is, the type of property, the kind of project, your timeline, your budget range, your preferred contact method, and anything you choose to write in the details field or type into the assistant.

Please do not send us payment card numbers, bank details, social security numbers, or health information through this website. We never ask for them here and we do not need them to prepare an estimate.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which typically include IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. These are used for security and to keep the site running. This website does not run advertising trackers, analytics pixels, or third-party marketing cookies.

3. How we use your information

We use what you send us to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and answer your questions.
  • Schedule a site walkthrough and prepare a written estimate.
  • Contact you about that estimate and about work in progress.
  • Keep our own records of bids, contracts and jobs as required by California law.
  • Protect the site against spam and abuse.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, profiling, or targeted advertising.

4. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.

Your information is shared only in these situations:

  • Our own team. Submissions go to our project manager and the owners so we can quote and run your job.
  • Service providers. The form delivery service that carries your submission to our email, our email provider, and our web host. They process it only to provide that service.
  • Trade partners. If a specialist licensed sub-trade is needed on your job, we share only what is necessary for them to price or perform that portion of the work.
  • Legal requirement. Where we are required to by law, subpoena, or a lawful request from a government body such as the California State Licence Board.

5. Cookies and local storage

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It does store a small amount of data in your own browser, which never leaves your device unless you submit the form:

  • Language preference — so the site stays in English or Spanish as you chose.
  • Estimate form draft — your answers are kept locally so a refresh or an interruption does not lose your work. It is cleared once the form is sent.
  • Assistant conversation — kept for the duration of your browser session so moving between pages does not restart the conversation. It is cleared when you close the tab or when the conversation is sent.

You can clear this at any time through your browser's settings for site data.

6. Embedded video

The gallery page can display project videos hosted on Facebook. Those videos are deliberately not loaded when the page opens — you see a still image with a play button, and nothing is requested from Facebook until you press it. If you do press play, Facebook may set its own cookies and receive your IP address under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.

7. How long we keep it

If you request an estimate but do not become a customer, we keep your enquiry for up to two years so we can pick up the conversation if you come back to it.

If you become a customer, we keep project records for the periods required by California law and by our insurance and bonding obligations, which for construction work can be ten years or more from completion. Retaining these records protects you as much as us if a question about the work arises later.

8. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the following rights:

  • To know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we disclosed it to.
  • To delete personal information we hold about you, subject to the record-keeping exceptions described in section 7.
  • To correct personal information you believe is inaccurate.
  • To opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of — but the right stands.
  • To limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information through this website.
  • Not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We will not refuse you service, change your price, or give you a lower standard of work.

To exercise any of these rights, call us on (916) 532-3015 or email aj.construction.inc2@gmail.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will verify your identity by confirming details already in our records, and we will respond within 45 days. You may use an authorised agent, in which case we will ask for written permission signed by you.

9. Calls, texts and email

By giving us your phone number and choosing a preferred contact method, you agree that we may contact you about your enquiry and your project by phone call, text message or email. Message and data rates may apply. We do not send marketing blasts. You can stop messages at any time by replying STOP or telling us on a call, and that will not affect work already under contract.

10. Security

This site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. We limit access to enquiries to the owners and our project manager. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — which is why we ask you not to send financial or identity documents through this website.

11. Children

This website is meant for property owners and decision-makers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on the page rather than buried. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
